What is a Family Consultant?

We are one of the only family mediation practices in the country to have a fully embedded Family Consultant within our mediation team. Our Clinical Director Debbie Lakin works alongside our mediators and therapists to support you prior to, during, and after, family mediation.

A family consultant helps you prepare for the mediation process through pre-mediation coaching you will be given a safe confidential space in which to explore your ideas of how you see arrangements for the future. The family consultant will support communication skills and reduce misunderstandings to ensure the mediation process runs as smoothly as possible.

It can be hugely beneficial if a family consultant works alongside the mediator during the mediation sessions. They are able to bring their experience of working with children and young people to help the couple prioritise the needs of their children, they can also help to facilitate the conversation at times of tension.

We are able to offer fixed fee packages for mediation, all of which include support from our Family Consultant. We would be delighted to talk to you about family mediation and how the process works and is enhanced, by including family consultancy in the process. If you would like to know more about this approach please contact us.
